Reincarnation and Christianity

Postby Truthseeker » Fri Jan 27, 2012 11:32 pm

Apparently it is said that around AD 553, the early christian church leaders eliminated doctrines from the Bible that showed proof of reincarnation. Some suggest that the doctrines stayed the same and where never tampered with.

Now in the Bible there are some statements that have double meaning or could suggest reincarnation:

"John 3,3" No one can see the kingdom of God unless he is born again.
"James 3,6" The wheel of nature.
"Galatians 6,7" A man reaps what he sows.
"Revelation 13,10" If anyone is to go into captivity, into captivity he will go. If anyone is to be killed with the sword, with the sword he will be killed.

Christians argue that reincarnation is a threat towards the whole essence of christianity, the need for Christ's redemptive sacrifice for our sins becomes useless if man is to keep being reborn and we are paying the consequence of our sins and attaining salvation ourselves in further lives. In other words it is believed then that Christ would have died for nothing.

Now I believe in Jesus and was brought up a Christian but I don't rule out the idea of reincarnation. For me I don't see reincarnation as an excuse to take advantage of sin because I will get to be reborn as others may see it. I just believe that it could take more than one lifetime to keep learning and ascending to a higher spiritual level. I don't believe Christ died for nothing, he did teach us lessons. It is said by Christians that we will all be judged at the end of time but why not keep coming back to make that improvement if you feel you really need to, or get that second chance that may have been abruptly taken away from you eg. "a small child dying unexpectedly". That just makes better sense to me than just sitting in limbo until the end of time waiting to be judged/punished. Is that what God really wants for us - punishment, or does he want us to learn and ascend higher spiritually, I mean he gives us free will choices while we are alive, wouldn't he also do that if we were on the other side? These are just my opinions.

What do others think of this topic, be interesting to read about it.

This is a very good topic Truthseeker ...

Concerning Reincarnation – if one searches back to the days of Emperor Constantine they will find that reincarnation indeed had be removed. “Why” … because the emperor, especially his (mother) - DID NOT want to have (a coming back in body to amend for all the wrongs done when on earth) hanging over her head. So by removing reincarnation from the bible - thought to give her the assurance that she/they would not have to come back to repay for the misdeeds done.

Just goes to show how their mind did work.

Anyway, I’m pretty sure you will find this by googling it.
EVERY living creature, everything created here on earth rises up through evolution; all things is drawn back towards the LIGHT - its Creator. At first one is not aware of this, but one day they are very aware of it.

You must have heard some say that earth is like a school with many class-rooms; this is so true.
Each class-room holds like minded. Those who know and understand a little more than others are in a higher class. Though in this day and age MANY either repeat or sink to a lower class-room (level) in their next incarnation. They keep repeating until they get it right. But today as we look around us we see many low classes of people who just dont care. No sense of right or wrong - no conscience. Maybe I should right a post explaining this; I will give it some thought. The things I mention is only what I have discovered for myself and I am not trying to be a know it all, because really I am not.

But as you say, there are verses in the bible which states signs of reincarnation. One such verse is when Jesus said: John the Baptist was Elijah who has come again to clear the path for him (Jesus).

But to find the truth of this for ONESELF, meditation is the way.

Thanks for your input Solo. I'd be interested to read your next post.

I've searched so many sites regarding this subject and you could get mind boggled just reading it, lol.

The subject of reincarnation has been around a lot longer than christianity, back to the days of budhhism and hinduism. And I believe that the scriptures were tampered with, even though a lot of christians would argue and say that they never were. There are heaps more other passages in the bible that give evidence of reincarnation but others would say they have a different meaning and they don't imply that at all.

Yes, I guess meditation is a good way of searching it for yourself. :)
